About us

Heritage Sixteen hotel is located at the heart of UNESCO World Heritage-listed Georgetown, in the Carnarvon Street number 16.                                                                                                                          Our other accommodation – Simcitystay – can be found in Weld Quay, a coastal road on the east side of the town.

Carnarvon street used to be one of the main arteries of the colonial town of Georgetown developed back in 1860’s. In the mid 20th century it became famous for its bookshops and coffin makers. The area was mostly populated by Peranakan Chinese or Straits-born Chinese, who are the descendants of Chinese immigrants who came to the Malay archipelago between the 15th and 17th centuries. Members of this unique community are called “Baba Nyonya“. Nyonya is the term for the women and Baba for the men. The Peranakan kept most of their ethnic and religious origins as well as the typical cuisine, which can be experienced when staying in the area.

Today the Carnarvon street offers an authentic and vibrant feeling, just as the Heritage Sixteen hotel itself.

Hotel offers a variety of rooms that can satisfy all types of customers – it is suitable for families, couples, business travelers and also for backpackers.
